We have owned our house in Sweden for 15 years now. We visit every year in November, February and during the summer, at least three times a year. It is a wonderful place, we enjoy it to the fullest! We looked at holiday homes in several countries, but when we were on holiday in Sweden, it felt so peaceful and familiar. It suited us perfectly. It is such a lovely, peaceful country, with few distractions and outside influences. It is quiet… we really love the peace and quiet.
When we decided to look for a house in Sweden, I searched Google for someone who knew something about Sweden and could help us, because we didn’t speak a word of Swedish. I came across Eddy’s website. We hit it off right away. At Whitsun, we went to Sweden and drove from house to house. We first looked in Värmland, but Eddy also pointed us to Dalarna, which is a bit hillier. We like it better here than in Värmland; this area really suits us! Eddy had planned everything perfectly, and the estate agents were all ready to go.
The estate agent at the last house didn’t speak a word of English and we didn’t speak a word of Swedish. But she was clearly very enthusiastic about the house, and to be honest, so were we. We arrived via a small bridge, the house was beautifully situated on the water, the lawn was neatly mowed, the sun was shining… It looked absolutely perfect. We had long conversations with the estate agent, but we don’t know what about (haha). But when we drove away, we said to each other, “This is the one, this is it.”
Buying a house was quite an adventure. We needed a small mortgage, which had to be arranged. At the last minute, someone else turned up at the viewing who was in contact with an investor in Stockholm. That made things a bit tense. We made an offer, but it was too low. Eddy said, “Arjan, you have to make this offer. Then it’s yours.” We acted immediately and then everything happened very quickly. It was decided in one day. The estate agent took the property off the market immediately. We are over the moon with it. We also rent out our house regularly and the feedback is always positive. And when we ask the children if they want to go to Sweden or Spain, for example, they always shout ‘Sweden!’ It’s just wonderful being together by the water, in the woods, around a campfire …
Eddy guided us perfectly, from viewing the properties to arranging the mortgage. Rubbish collection, electricity, everything was taken care of by him at the time, and we are still benefiting from that today. Quite recently, the house had to be transferred to my name, and Eddy helped us with that too.
In addition, we have always had, and still have, a really good relationship. It is genuinely very pleasant doing business with Eddy. He is always willing to help and it is enjoyable to talk to him, come up with a plan and achieve a good end result. It always works out, as long as you are honest with him.
